SUMMARY:Girls Who Code Des Moines Summer Camp
DESCRIPTION:Code in community and learn about women in tech! \nAugust 7 – 8\, 2024 \nGirls Who Code (GWC) Des Moines is a program for students in grades six to twelve to build coding skills and community while learning about women in tech. A nationally recognized movement\, GWC clubs are a sisterhood of supportive peers and role models using computer science to change the world. Participants build coding skills and community as they complete projects through an adaptive curriculum. Locale female technology professionals serve as mentors\, working with the students at camp and during monthly club meetups throughout the year. \nThe Girls Who Code Des Moines 2024 Summer Camp will take place at the historic Franklin Junior High\, 4801 Franklin Avenue in Des Moines on Wednesday\, August 7 and Thursday\, August 8\, 2024\, from 9am to 4pm each day. No coding experience is necessary to participate. Students will be divided into beginner and experienced groups. Lunch and snacks will be provided. \nRequirements: \n\nStudents in grades six to twelve\,\nA Girls Who Code club account (see below)\, and\nCommitment to daily attendance.\n\nAs a free camp with limited seats\, Tech Journey desires to give priority to students who can commit to attending both days of the learning activity.
