SUMMARY:CoderDojoDSM February 2023 Meetup
DESCRIPTION:Join us at our next CoderDojo Des Moines meetup!\n\n\nEach month at CoderDojoDSM\, students age 9+ work on coding\, building a website\, creating an app or game\, building or programming a robot\, or simply exploring technology in a less-structured\, creative\, and social environment. There is no group instruction. Rather\, local professional technologists serving as volunteer mentors help students as they work on projects of their choice. \nCompletely new to coding? No problem. We’ll have tutorials and ideas students can pick from to start their own project. CoderDojoDSM is free and students of all skill levels are welcome. \n\nA parent or guardian is required to complete the registration process. Youth under the age of 13 require a parent or guardian to be present during the meetup.\nWhen registering\, please select the appropriate ticket which tells us if the student will be bringing his/her own laptop computer or would like to reserve and use one of our computers.\nAll skillsets are welcome! Those with advanced knowledge will be assisted in creating more advanced projects.\nPlease review our Program Policy before registering.\n\nNOTE: If you need to cancel a reservation\, please contact us so the reservation may be made available to someone else. \nTo learn more\, visit coderdojodsm.com.

SUMMARY:CoderDojoDSM June Meetup
DESCRIPTION:Join us at CoderDojo Des Moines!\n\n\nEach month at CoderDojo Des Moines (CoderDojoDSM)\, youth ages 9 to 18 can learn to code\, build a website\, create an app or game\, program a robot\, or simply explore technology in a less-structured\, creative\, and social environment. CoderDojoDSM is free and students of all skill levels are welcome. \nCoderDojoDSM meetups facilitate exploratory learning through project-based work. Students are encouraged to bring projects of their own or we can suggest a project. Local technology professionals serve as volunteer mentors and help students as needed. Students are invited to share their projects as collaborative creativity and peer input is encouraged. \n\nThis month’s meetup will include breakout rooms for coding in Scratch or Python as well as working with the BBC micro:bit computer. Please indicate student interest on the registration form. For students new to coding\, we recommend starting with Scratch.\nA parent or guardian is required to complete the registration process for each student. Please review our program policy before registering.\nWe strongly recommend a parent or guardian be present with youth under the age of 13 as we cannot create online accounts for students and guidance on navigating multiple windows while working in Zoom is helpful for less experienced students.\nFor the best meetup experience and to interact with mentors\, students will need a personal computer with an operating microphone\, speakers or headphones and camera.\nThe Zoom desktop client is required and version 5.3.0 or later is recommended. Please update to the latest version prior to the meetup.\nTo learn more\, please visit coderdojodsm.com.
