Sponsored by SPS Commerce and ITA Group. \n  \nAugust 13 – 14\, 2025 \nGirls Who Code (GWC) Des Moines is a program for students in grades six to twelve to build coding skills and community while learning about women in tech. A nationally recognized movement\, GWC clubs are a sisterhood of supportive peers and role models using computer science to change the world. Participants build coding skills and community as they complete projects through an adaptive curriculum. Local female technology professionals serve as mentors\, working with the students at camp and during monthly club meetups throughout the year. \nThe Girls Who Code Des Moines 2025 Summer Camp will take place on Wednesday\, August 13 and Thursday\, August 14\, 2025\, from 9am to 4pm each day at a location to be determined. No coding experience is necessary to participate. Students will be divided into beginner and experienced groups. Lunch and snacks will be provided. \nRequirements: \n\nStudents in grades six to twelve\,\nA Girls Who Code club account (see below)\, and\nCommitment to daily attendance.\n\nAs a free camp with limited seats\, Tech Journey desires to give priority to students who can commit to attending both days of the learning activity. Over 8 weeks\, we will collaborate\, design and develop a website concept. We will utilize a Python web framework called Flask to build the front end of a website and then look at what will be needed for the backend. This includes utilizing HTML\, CSS and Javascript to design the elements\, colors\, animations and other objects for the user interface and then add form submission in Python on the backend to move data for the application. \nGirls Who Code (GWC) Des Moines is a program for students in grades six to twelve to build coding skills and community while learning about women in tech. A nationally recognized movement\, GWC clubs are a sisterhood of supportive peers and role models using computer science to change the world. Participants build coding skills and community as they complete projects through an adaptive curriculum.
