SUMMARY:10 Years With Tech Journey Reception
DESCRIPTION:Join us in celebrating 10 years of Tech Journey! Please use the donation ticket on Eventbrite to let us know you’re coming and help support our organization and students. \nExile Brewing\nTuesday\, June 27 · 4 – 6pm CDT\n1514 Walnut St\nDes Moines\, IA 50309 \nSince its inception in 2013\, Tech Journey has built a dedicated community of high school students who return year after year to its flagship event\, Tech Camp\, to deepen their knowledge and skills of tech. With an average attendance of 100 students at camp each year\, Tech Journey is proud to have fostered a lasting commitment to learning among central Iowa’s brightest young minds. The organization has worked tirelessly to create an inclusive environment where all students have equal access to technology enrichment regardless of their backgrounds or circumstances. This includes coding & robotics programs\, workshops from technology professionals and computer science curricula. Through its innovative programs\, Tech Journey has helped students build critical thinking and problem-solving skills\, while also inspiring a passion for technology and STEM education\, in turn creating more talent for the Iowa technology workforce. \nPlease drop in any time and join us for drinks and apps at our 10 year reception. Tickets are not required but encouraged to help us plan accordingly. We will reflect on the many past accomplishments and consider the possibilities in front of us over the next few years and beyond! \nTech Journey would like to offer a special shout out to our fabulous friends at Shift Interactive for hosting this special event!

SUMMARY:Tech Camp 2023
DESCRIPTION:Tech Camp is an immersive\, invitation-only summer camp experience for central Iowa high school students. Since the first camp in 2013\, a cohort of 8th or 9th grade students are invited each year with consideration given to socioeconomic status\, gender and ethnicity/race. The new cohort\, as well as the previous four cohorts\, are invited to attend the one-week summer camp. Thus\, many students in the program attend camp each year for up to five years as students who attend three or more years become eligible to receive a scholarship upon high school graduation.  \nDuring Tech Camp\, students attend inspirational speaker sessions\, technology exploration sessions and participate in other activities. Technology sessions are organized into tracks of software\, hardware and physical computing or web development and media. Technologies and topics typically presented include\, but are not limited to\, Agile\, Arduino\, cloud computing\, cybersecurity\, engineering\, game development\, HTML/CSS/JS\, machine learning\, Python and robotics. All sessions are delivered by local technology professionals serving as volunteer speakers\, facilitators and mentors. Students not only learn from and get to work alongside the professionals\, but they get to engage with the professionals while discussing education\, careers\, jobs\, motivations\, skills\, recommended resources and the like. \nSign up to be a volunteer mentor or camp host at Tech Camp 2023.

SUMMARY:Tech Camp 2024
\nSpecial thanks to Athene\, Bankers Trust\, The Bayer Fund\, EMC Insurance\, Farm Bureau Financial Services\, GuideOne Foundation\, John Deere Des Moines Operations Committee\, Lean TECHniques\, Merchants Bonding and Vermeer Corporation for sponsoring Tech Journey’s 2024 summer programming.
