SUMMARY:Intro to Coding with Scratch
DESCRIPTION:Learn the basics of coding and Scratch by animating your name! \nLearners age 9 and above will be introduced to Scratch while learning coding basics in this fun\, introductory workshop while animating their name. At the end of this workshop\, students will have created a program while learning about sequencing\, event listeners\, loops and graphics. \n\nLearners who have completed Hour of Code will find Scratch to be a great next step in their learning journey.\nNo experience with Scratch is necessary but experience with a keyboard and mouse is required. \nA Scratch account is recommended in order to save projects. \nA parent or guardian is required to complete the registration process and learners under the age of 13 require a parent or guardian to be present during the workshop.\nPlease review our program policies before registering.\n\nNOTE: If you need to cancel a reservation\, please contact us so the reservation may be made available to someone else. \nTo learn more\, visit techjourney.org/techtime. \nDeveloped and maintained by the Massachusetts Institute of Technology\, Scratch is a great way for students to learn introductory coding. Not only is Scratch fun\, but by using blocks (think digital LEGOs®) instead of text\, emphasis is placed on learning coding fundamentals rather than worrying about the syntax of a programming language. Scratch also brings together communities of content creators by allowing Scratchers to share their work\, remix and learn from others.

SUMMARY:CoderDojoDSM December 2022 Meetup
DESCRIPTION:Register for this meetup via Eventbrite!\n\n\nEach month at CoderDojoDSM\, students age 9+ work on coding\, building a website\, creating an app or game\, building or programming a robot\, or simply exploring technology in a less-structured\, creative\, and social environment. There is no group instruction. Rather\, local professional technologists serving as volunteer mentors help students as they work on projects of their choice. \nCompletely new to coding? No problem. We’ll have tutorials and ideas students can pick from to start their own project. CoderDojoDSM is free and students of all skill levels are welcome. \n\nA parent or guardian is required to complete the registration process. Youth under the age of 13 require a parent or guardian to be present during the meetup.\nWhen registering\, please select the appropriate ticket which tells us if the student will be bringing his/her own laptop computer or would like to reserve and use one of our computers.\nAll skillsets are welcome! Those with advanced knowledge will be assisted in creating more advanced projects.\nPlease review our CoderDojoDSM Program Policy and Health & Safety Action Plan before registering.\n\nNOTE: If you need to cancel a reservation\, please contact us so the reservation may be made available to someone else.
